NC pushed Kashmiris into gorge; PDP wants to bury us alive: APHC

SRINAGAR: The Hurriyat Conference-led by Syed Ali Geelani on Monday said all pro-Indian parties and their leaders are “opportunists” and are hand-in-glove with “killers”.
In a statement, the Hurriyat termed the remarks of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) vice president Sartaj Madni that “Hurriyat leaders should talk if they feel pain of Kashmiris” as “most ridiculous, pathetic and unrealistic”.
The Hurriyat said the “power” bestowed upon the pro-India politicians has “smoke-screened their vision to the extent that these slaves praise their masters even for the barbarism and tyranny”.
“They are stooges and hand-in-glove with killers. These people are responsible for killing and inflicting pain on innocents; however, they are blind to the extent that despite watching with their open eyes, (they) can’t utter a single word or go against the dictates of their masters,” the amalgam said.
The Hurriyat said it is not against dialogue and knows it is the only option; “however we have decided that we will never participate if it is aimed at changing (the) discourse or if the dispute is not resolved in its historical perspective”. “(The) people of Jammu and Kashmir presented immense and unprecedented sacrifices, and our three generations have been the worst sufferers,” it said.
“Because of the military occupation, the dignity and honour of our sisters and daughters have been tarnished; properties worth billions ransacked and millions (are) facing unprecedented pain and agony.
“Our land has been turned into a battleground with killings, tortures and injuries leading to such a disastrous environment where we can’t breathe easily. Peace is still a distant dream for us,” the Hurriyat said.
“This presents a more serious, disturbing and frustrating scenario than war itself, and for this hell-like situation, only India along with its local stooges (is) responsible, for which they can never be forgiven.”
Terming the PDP as “slaves of Nagpur”, the Hurriyat said as long as “treacherous people” are there, “our nation shall have to live in gloom and face miserable situations. It is because of these people that our existence, identity, religion, culture and everything is at the verge of extinction.”
Blaming the PDP for playing a deceitful role, the Hurriyat said the party is “feeling desperate” to portray itself as a benefactor and well-wisher, “while the reality is quite contrary”.
“National Conference (NC) has pushed us into deep gorge and PDP wants to bury us alive,” the Hurriyat said, adding, “They are opportunists (and) for their lust of power, can go to any extent.”
Referring to the 2008 Amarnath land row agitation, the Hurriyat said the PDP withdrew its support to the Congress government led by Ghulam Nabi Azad over the death of three people, saying that it “cannot support the government which rests and rules over dead bodies”. But during its tenure, more than 102 people were killed in the year 2016, 390 blinded, 17,340 injured, 11,700 arrested, 79,500 houses were ransacked, paddy heaps were burned and fruit orchards devastated, bringing life in the whole Valley to a complete halt for 83 days, with pro-freedom slogans reverberating from every corner of the state. But, the statement said, the “steel crunches of saffron are so strong that the death and devastation on such a large scale could shake neither the conscience of these puppets nor their chair”.
