Naran avalanche kills three Karachi sisters

PESHAWAR: Three female tourists died after being trapped under avalanche near Saiful Muluk Lake situated in the Kaghan Police Station.

According to Kaghan SHO Tariq Khan, these women were snapping pictures near the popular lake when avalanche fell on them. They died on the spot as the women, who were real sisters, identified as Rozina Bano wife of Saleem, Irum Bano wife of Waqas and Nirma Bano Sufyan.

He said locals rushed to the spot and attempted to rescue them, but the women were already dead. The bodies were handed over to the heirs.

Officials of the Naran Police Checkpost situated in tehsil Balakot, District Mansehra led by Mustafa along with police also rushed to the spot to recover the bodies.

The victim family said they belonged to Karachi and had arrived on a tour.

Tourists have often complained about the dangerous and rough road leading to famous Saiful Muluk Lake in the scenic Kaghan valley.

Saiful Muluk Lake, which is situated at an elevation of 3,224 meters (10,578 feet) above the sea level, is quite a popular spot for tourists but according to them, 10km road to the Lake (Naran-Saiful Muluk Road) is dangerous due to its dilapidated condition.


Four people were killed and five others were injured when lightning hit them in far-flung area of Bajaur Agency’s Salarzai Tehsil on Sunday, an official of the administration stated.

According to the official incident took place in Banda area, about 34 kilometers away from agency headquarter Khar.

The official said that a group of local people were gathered in the area when the lighting hit them.

Four people died on the spot while five others were critically injured in the incident. Soon after the incident personnel of security forces and Levies reached the site and launched rescue activities.

They shifted the injured to agency headquarters hospital, Khar. The rain has badly affected crops and vegetables in different areas of the agency. APP
