SC seeks reports in human organ transplantation case

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed the federation and all four provincial health secretaries to submit concise reports in human organ transplantation case. The division bench of the apex court comprising Chief Justice Answer Zaheer Jamali and Justice Tariq Masood heard the suo-moto case regarding illegal human organs transplantation.

The bench remarked that Pakistan has become the world centre for sale and purchase of kidneys. During the course of proceedings, Dr. Babar Awan counsel for the Al-Syed Hospital Rawalpindi appeared before the court and stated that a case human organ transplantation was pending in the court.

He said that the police was teasing the hospital administration and employees on the name of investigation. He said that one senior doctor of the hospital went abroad due to registration of FIR against him. The chief justice remarked that the court would not issue any order to police in this regard. The court sought details regarding human organs transplantation and adjourned hearing of the case till last week of August. APP
