PESHAWAR: Provincial Finance Minister Muzaffar Said Advocate has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government considered the uplift of minorities as its utmost duty saying their employment quota has been doubled in the province.
He was talking to representative delegation of minorities from Malakand which called on him under the leadership of the District Councilor from Dir Lower Shehzad Kokhar Masih and Tehsil Councilor Balambat Waqar Majeed.
The delegation apprised him in detail about the problems faced by
minority communities in the province as well as assured enthusiastic participation of minorities from all areas of Malakand including Dir Lower in the Minorities Convention under the auspices of Jamat-e-Islami on April 9, 2016 at Peshawar.
The Finance Minister while assuring the resolution of their problems on priority basis said that minorities are important organ of our society.
He said the role of minorities in national development is unforgettable.
He said besides, welfare of minorities, the protection of their all rights is our constitutional, religious and national responsibility.
The Minister said that the government will leave no stone unturned in the fulfillment of this prime responsibility in better manner.
He said that after coming into power the KP Government first increased minorities’ job quota from 1 per cent to 1.5 per cent and now it has been again increased to 3 per cent.
Similarly, he said besides, appointing minority welfare officer at every district level, district minorities committees headed by the Deputy Commissioners have also been constituted to resolve the problems of minorities through their representatives.
He further said that for the first time in the history of the province, the portfolio of minorities affairs has been assigned to a minority member, which speaks of our love for minorities and acknowledgement of their services and capabilities.
He said that for the development of minorities, they had also established a separate working group. He said that the implementation of the comprehensive recommendations presented by the working group is also being ensured.
He assured that for the construction and repairing of the worship places of minorities, his government will utilize all the available resources.
The Minister said the provincial government is introducing a system to guarantee protection to the life and properties of all people including minorities and protection of worship places, provision of equal rights to minorities. APP
