ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday conferred the award of Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) on General Abidin šnal, Commander of the Turkish Air Forces in recognition of his outstanding services.
The special ceremony was held here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr to decorate General Abidin šnal, Commander of the Turkish Air Forces in recognition of his contributions in deepening and strengthening ties between the air forces of Pakistan and Turkey and enhancing their strategic cooperation.
The special investiture ceremony was attended by Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Ambassador of Turkey to Pakistan Sadik Babr Girgin, Secretary Defence Lt Gen (Retd) Alam Khattak and senior civil and military officers.
Later, General Abidin šnal called on President Mamnoon Hussain and discussed matters of mutual interest. The President congratulated Commander of the Turkish Air Forces on being conferred with Nishan-i-Imtiaz (M) and appreciated his services in strengthening relations between the two brotherly countries.
President Mamnoon Hussain said the people of Pakistan and Turkey were bound together in strong bonds of brotherhood based on shared religious, cultural and historical affinities.
The President lauded the constructive role and efforts of Turkey in ushering in peace and stability in Afghanistan.
President Mamnoon Hussain called for joint efforts by Turkey and Pakistan to fight the scourge of terrorism for peace and stability not only in the region but also the entire world.
General Abidin šnal, Commander of the Turkish Air Forces thanked the President and the Government of Pakistan on conferring on him the medal. APP
