ISLAMABAD: Ukrainian Ambassador to Pakistan Volodymyr Lakomov Thursday urged to promote bilateral trade and investment between the two countries.
He stated this while addressing the Pakistan-Ukraine Business Forum jointly organized by Embassy of Ukraine in Pakistan and Global Business Router. Underlining the need for enhancing bilateral trade and investments, he said Pakistani businessmen could also take benefit from Ukraine by investing as the country has a Free Trade Agreement with European countries.
There is a significant potential for further development of trade and economic cooperation between two countries in the agrarian sector. The development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation in agrarian sector demands permanent attention of both the governments, he said.
He said “We consider the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Pakistani Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation as an important tool of development of trade and economic cooperation between two countries and the first meeting of this Commission is preliminary scheduled for this year of 2016.”
“We are now paying great attention to establishing the agricultural cooperation committee within the Commission and starting its practical work in the near feature”, he remarked. He said that this event would provide Ukraine and Pakistan with additional impetus for business-to-business interaction in the field of grain trade.
The ambassador said that around 2,000 Pakistanis are living in Ukraine while a large number of Ukrainians are living here. The representative and of UkrAgroConsult Ms Youlia Feolova said “We want maximum investment from Pakistani side. Our aim is to provide accurate and timely information on agricultural markets of Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan and other Black Sea countries.”
Youlia said that 235 international companies are doing thier business in Ukraine and 3.5 million Ukranian are related to the agriculture sector. APP
