“Think like Iqbal, Act like Qauid-i-Azam”

LAHORE: Dabistan-e-Iqbal President Iqbal Salahuddin Saturday advised the young generation to think like Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal and act like Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for retaining the ideology of Pakistan in true sense.

He was addressing the ‘Pakistan Day Youth Summit’ a speech contest among young students regarding the Pakistan Movement and its leaders- jointly organized by Dabistan-e-Iqbal (DI) and Positive Pakistan (PP), here at Al-Hamra Hall.

Positive Pakistan Petron-in-Chief Sardar Azam Rasheed, President Abid Iqbal Kheri, University of Management and Technology (UMD) Director General Abid Sherwani also addressed the summit, while renowned columnist and scholar Oriya Maqbool Jan responded to the questions raised by the students regarding Pakistan Resolution in the Interactive Session. The Summit was largely attended by youth ambassadors of the DI and the PP studying in various educational institutions all-over Pakistan.

The two unique aspects of the summit were that the historic chair upon which Qauid-i-Azam sat and signed the important Resolution of Pakistan that changed the destiny of Muslims of the Subcontinent, was also put on display, while the Summit banner also depicted the same couplet of Iqbal’s verses, which were written on the banner of public-meeting held on March 23, 1940 that vetted the Pakistan Resolution. The verses were: Jahan Mein Ahl-e-Emaan Soorat-e-Khursheed Jeetay Hain; Idhar Doobay, Udhar Niklay, Udhar Doobay, Idhar Niklay.

Iqbal Salahuddin, who is also maternal grandson of Allama Iqbal, shared valuable information about Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Dr. Allama Iqbal and Quaid-i-Azam so as to make the participants understand well the message and ideology of the founding fathers of the nation.

He underscored the need that young lot must acquire and learn the modern science and technology education, adding that the founding fathers of the nation very much wanted their youth to do so for carving their way out in the fast changing and challenging world.

In his address, Sardar Azam Rasheed mentioned his personal experiences being a politician but said that all these things had become secondary for him, as he had learnt the very objective of life from the message and teachings of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He said that Positive Pakistan was promoting contentment and positivity among the nation especially the youth. “Essence of education is how much you live happily,” he remarked and advised the youth to make themselves aware of their values, traditions and teachings of their forefathers. The PP Petron-in-Chief also urged the government to play its effective role in guiding and facilitating the youth about their tendency towards study and knowledge gain.

UMT DG Abid Sherwani also stressed the need for propagating the message of Allama Iqbal for self-reliance, self-awareness and self-respect. He urged the youth to study thoroughly the Two-Nation Theory. He also recalled various incidents of pre-partition, which highlighted the poor plight of the Muslim of Subcontinent before creation of Pakistan.

At the end, the guest speakers were presented honorary shields as memento to the Summit. While, all the top three awards were grabbed by female orators, as Komal Shakeel, Iqra Khursheed and Wadah Hassan won the first, second and third positions, respectively. Certificates of Appreciation were also distributed among all other orators and the students, who sung Milli Naghmay (national songs) at the summit. APP
