LAHORE: A delegation of Italian investors led by Ambassador of Italy in Pakistan Stefano Pontecorvo met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
Matters of mutual interest, promotion of bilateral relations and cooperation in agriculture, industry, light engineering, agri machinery, agro industry and other sectors were discussed on the occasion.
The Chief Minister while speaking on the occasion said that situation in Pakistan had substantially improved under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and economic indicators were better due to which the confidence of investors had been restored.
He said through speedy implementation of energy projects thousands of megawatt electricity would be added to national grid by the end of next year.
Shehbaz Sharif said there were strong friendly relations between Italy and Pakistan and time had come to take practical measures to transform these ties into trade and economic contacts.
He said facilities were being provided to foreign investors in Punjab on priority basis. Work would be carried out with mutual coordination for strengthening relations between Italy and Punjab and there was a need of further promotion of ties between Pakistan and Italy and maximum exchange of delegations between the two countries was necessary for this purpose.
The Italian Ambassador and heads of investment companies appreciated the steps taken by Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif for providing a conducive atmosphere in Punjab and said that they were impressed to see an excellent climate in the province.
They expressed their desire to invest in various sectors in Punjab and expressed their willingness to cooperate with the provincial government in different sectors. APP
