Detainees in Baramulla jail on hunger strike

SRINAGAR: At least 24 illegally detained Kashmiris languishing in Baramulla jail, Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) have started hunger strike against the continued denial of justice to them by the occupation authorities.

According to Kashmir Media Service(KMS), the protesting detainees told media persons that the authorities were not producing them before the courts on the dates of hearing of their cases. They also said that if at all they were produced before the court, the judicial officers gave long dates.

It is to mention here that last year, the inmates had staged a similar protest against non appointment of a public prosecutor in the Sessions Court Baramulla. Subsequently, the High Court of the occupied territory directed the authorities to appoint the public prosecutor so that justice could be provided to the detainees. APP
