Honourary degree confered upon Turkmen President

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain conferred the Honourary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science on President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

A special convocation of the Quaid-e-Azam University was held here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr which was attended, among others, by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, Governor Punjab Rafique Rajwana, Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister for Industries and Production Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, Minister of State for Communications Abdul Hakeem Baloch, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi and Board of Investment Chairman Miftah Ismail.

President Mamnoon congratulated President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov after conferring him with the Honourary Degree. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in his address, said that conferment of Honourary Degree of Doctorate by the Quaid-e-Azam University was an honour for him and expressed his gratitude to the people and the government of Pakistan.

He said the friendship between Pakistan and Turkmenistan was exemplary as the two countries enjoyed warm relations at the government and people’s level. He said Pakistan and Turkmenistan were bound together in common historical and cultural ties and the relations were further deepening which would open new prospects for prosperity in the two countries and peace and stability in the region.

President Gurbanguly said that his country was keen to widen relations between the educational institutions of the two countries, particularly in the field of science and technology. APP
