Cuban Ambassador for enhancing bilateral ties with Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Cuban Ambassador H. E. Gabriel Tiel Capote has expressed that Cuba and Pakistan were enjoying good and exemplary relation particularly after the deadly earthquake in 2005 that hit Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan’s northern area. Though Pak-Cuba ties were established in 1955 and after 60 years of bilateral relations these ties are further strengthened.

He said this while addressing a graceful gathering which was organized by Pak-Cuba Social Forum with the collaboration of the Embassy of Cuba in order to welcome new ambassador of Cuba to Pakistan.

Highlight different spheres of bilateral relations between the both countries he said that Cuba nation would stand with Pakistani people as they stood in 2005 earthquake incident.

At that time Pakistan suffered a devastating earthquake that caused heavy losses of life and property but Cubans promptly responded and on October 14, 2008, the first group of 2,600 Cuban doctors and physicians along with paramedical staff reached Islamabad. Cuban doctors and paramedical staff with the help of Pakistani officials established field hospitals and worked restlessly to provide healthcare services to the quake-hit masses.

Another gesture of solidarity with the people of Pakistan was Cuban scholarships as 1,200 Pakistani students graduated from Cuba in medical field. He also thanked Pakistan for its generosity as Pakistan has gifted Cuba 15,000 tons of rice. He maintained that Cuban people really regard this good gesture of kindness.

The organizer of the function Ramzan Mughal paid his good wishes and gratitude to the people and government of Cuba for its support at the time of difficulty. He observed that Pakistan significantly values its cordial relations with Cuba. He urged the two governments for further enhancing bilateral relations to every field.

In his speech Agha Amjad expressed satisfaction over persisting ties between Pakistan and Cuba. He also said that Pakistani nation has good hopes and expectations from new ambassador of Cuba for his kind efforts to promote good relations as he initiated many thing to do so. He also took an excellent start soon after assuming the charge of ambassador here in Pakistan.

Jam Khurshid greeted Cuban support in health and education sectors, and stressed for exploring other avenues of cooperation between the two countries. He thanked for the Cuban medical assistance in the aftermath of devastation caused by natural calamities in Pakistan. And welcomed the respected guests. Doctor Jamal Nasir who graduated from Cuba along with other fellows expressed, on the occasion, his memorable events and experience during study in Cuba. Special Correspondent
