US to deliver F-16s to Pakistan soon: Toner

ISLAMABAD: United States (US) State Department Deputy Spokesman Mark Toner has hoped that F-16 jets will be delivered to Pakistan very soon.

Talking to a private news channel, he said the US considered Pakistan as an important partner in the region and expressed the commitment to continue cooperation with it. “We believe it’s in our vital national security interests to

support Pakistan in carrying out its efforts to destroy terrorist networks,” he said.

Mark Toner said that the matter of proposed sale of F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan was still pending in the Congress.

He said that the US considered Pakistan as an important ally and welcomed its efforts to support Afghan-led reconciliation talks. They (Pakistan) hosted the Heart of Asia ministerial meeting recently and two of the first three meetings of the Quadrilateral Coordination Group.

Mark Toner admitted that no country in the region had been more hit by terrorism than Pakistan. APP
