ISLAMABAD: Thousands of people defying curfew and other restrictions, on Monday participated in funeral prayer of a youth Dawood Ahmad Sheikh, who was martyred by Indian troops during a siege and search operation in Buchroo area of Kulgam district, India Held Kashmir (IHK) last night.
People from all walks of life including Hurriyet leaders attended the funeral. Anti-India and pro-freedom slogans were raised on the occasion, Kashmir Media Service reported.
The people also staged forceful anti-India demonstrations despite imposition of Section 144 in Qaimoh and adjoining areas. Around a dozen were injured during clashes with armed forces in Khudwani area.
The killing led to complete shutdown in Kulgam district. All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman Syed Ali Gilani, paying rich tributes to martyr Dawood Ahmad Sheikh said that Indian stubbornness was claiming precious lives in the occupied territory. APP
